Illustration for Bridging

A bridge must leave the nozzle, span open space and solidify quickly enough to stay relatively straight. Temperature, cooling, flow, speed and bridge direction all matter.

How do you recognize it?

  • Sagging bridges
  • Rough underside
  • Strands detach or become uneven

Common causes

  • Too hot
  • Insufficient cooling
  • Poor bridge flow
  • Inappropriate bridge speed
  • Bad bridge direction

What should you check first?

  1. Tune bridge settings separately.
  2. Increase cooling where the material allows it.
  3. Inspect bridge direction and span in the slicer preview.
