Ringing happens when the motion system oscillates after a rapid acceleration change. The pattern typically starts at a feature and fades as distance from that feature increases.
How do you recognize it?
- Waves behind sharp corners
- Pattern fades away from the edge
- Worse at higher acceleration
Common causes
- Motion-system resonance
- Acceleration too high for the machine
- Loose or flexible mechanics
- Missing or poor input-shaper calibration
What should you check first?
- Inspect mechanics for play.
- Measure/calibrate Input Shaper where supported.
- Reduce acceleration only as much as necessary.
